Ripon girls underwent unpleasant experience at sectional final

The Ripon girls basketball team was looking to make history last Saturday by winning its first-ever sectional and qualifying for its first state tournament. To say the least, the Tigers were excited … until they reached their sectional final destination — Waukesha South. What happened from there was frustrating, and it had nothing to do with the four quarters of basketball.

According to Ripon coach Bill Peters, here's what happened: As Ripon reached the high school, there was no parking available as there was a fundraising swimming meet that drew about 3,000 people. Once the team got inside the school there was nobody there to greet the team and direct it where to go. "They didn't even know who we were," Peters said. The team made its way into the gym because the school had not set aside two locker rooms for the sectional final between Ripon and Grafton.
