With the recent positive developments between Mercury Marine and the IAM Union and their recent statement indicating a joint agreement to allow a new vote to be carried out, we join the community in hopefulness that the best possible outcome for Fond du Lac County and the City of Fond du Lac may still be possible.
As citizens, organizations and businesses ask what they can do to help, our only response at this point is to please put the differences and opinions voiced to this point aside as we continue to work together to keep Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac County. To have all parties work together for this second chance has been an incredible opportunity that highlights the true spirit of our community. Let us all now mirror this cooperation and show what is truly special about the people of Fond du Lac as we move forward with a positive unified voice in favor of what is good for our communities, our region and our state.
Knowing the Mercury Marine employees have a chance to vote again means that a lot of things have gone right and many entities have worked together to get the process to this point. Now, we are all working together to find a solution to the long-term viability of a very important element in the success of Fond du Lac County.
We encourage all Mercury Marine employees to let your voice be heard and know that we support you. As we said previously, this is not a time to be divided by opinion, but to be united as we all work together for the future of the City of Fond du Lac and Fond du Lac County.
